Crack-smoking former DC Mayor Marion Barry, one of the country's preeminent liberal thinkers, felt inclined to comment on why the mother of a 6-year-old beat her son, smothered him, bound his hands and ankles and then drowned him in a tub. The reason behind this traegedy according to liberals?
"His mother didn't just get the way she is. Some government agency failed or somebody failed to give her the help she needed."
Sorry, Marion, sorry Ted Kennedy, the government is not an excuse for such a crime.
