You learn something new every day

Discrete: constituting a separate thing, consisting of unique parts; separate, different, individual, unattached

Discreet: marked by showing prudence, free from pretention; cautious, diplomatic, discerning, tactful

While homonyms, the words are indeed discrete. I had never been alerted to this fact before and used one in the wrong context. Don't let the same mistake happen to you; the placement of the 't' makes a big difference.
