American Idol as the Vanguard of Democracy?

I can honestly say that I've never seen a full episode of American Idol, but I'm glad to see that it's contributing to the downfall of Marxism in China.

Apparently, the Chinese government is cracking down on 'Idol' imposter shows, because the presence of competition and choice are unsuitable to a healthy socialist state. Some even speculate that the government is nervous that these shows allow citizens to vote for the best candidate.

As long as Hu Jintao is looking for ways to keep people oppressed, maybe Ralph Nader and Al Gore can provide some tips for increasing unemployment and starvation.
