Chavez to become dictator; AP uses ethnic slur in headline

Remember Chavez? He's the crazy communist "president" of Venezuela and prefers to call George W. Bush "the devil." I reported earlier on his latest attempts to nationalize Venezuelan businesses and modify constitutional term limits. However, today he takes it one step further.

The Venezuelan national assembly has now given Chavez what they are calling an "enabling law," which would give Chavez the authority to pass a series of laws by decree during an 18-month period. This amounts to a temporary dictatorship - but of course we all know there is no such thing as a temporary dictatorship.

In other news, the AP article that reports this story decided to use the "president's" radio quote as the title of this piece, "Chavez to U.S.: 'Go to hell, gringos!' I have a sneaking suspicion that if Chavez used another ethnic slur to vilify the American people the AP would hesitate to print it.
