"Our nation is shocked and saddened"

May God comfort the loved ones of the victims of one of the worst tragedies in American history.

Update: Heroes emerge - people who barricaded the door or used their body to save students' lives. Powerline links to the Jerusalem Post in their description of such a professor. Also, the paper reminds us of other deadly university shootings, the worst until yesterday taking place at the University of Texas in 1966 when a gunman climbed the clock tower and began shooting at students. The paper claims that police killed the shooter in Texas. We should remember, though, that a citizen entered the tower with police, as citizens from all across the area provided cover for police with their personal firearms.

And let's also not forget the fact that University law enforcement officers can't carry guns in Iowa...
