How fast can they change?

So up until a week ago, most mainstream news agencies were claiming that the jailing of journalists Miller and Cooper was indefensible because 'no crime had been committed.' The reporters were willing to go to jail to keep their sources anonymous, as Ms. Miller of the NYT has.

So now, after Karl Rove and the White House released Matt Cooper from his "obligation" to go to jail, the press is falling over itself to indict the highest White House official they can with demonstrably weakening our national security. How fast can they run to the other side?

It's maybe a little to early to comment on the outcome of the case, if Mr. Rove did indeed maliciously intend to out Valerie Plame as revenge on for her husband's op-ed piece trying to discredit the administration, then, yes, he should resign or be terminated. However, the facts available right now seem to support the conclusion that he was giving background rationale as to why Joseph Wilson would write the op-ed.

The ironic thing is that the war between the White House and the media that the media is trying to create is going to help the Administration. Maybe they don't realize their rabid pursuit of a conservative icon for a questionable offense will further the perception of media bias and strengthen the position of Mr. Rove.
