There are a few things in this world that are just plain funny, you can't help but laugh when you think about them. One of Ann Coulter's ideas is for Republican Presidents to send an ultra-conservative, decoy nominee through court confirmations to give liberals a better idea of radical and mainstream; she volunteered to be a sacrificial lamb if she would get to say on national television, "we'll drive off the side of that bridge when we come to come to it, Senator Kennedy". Visiting this site (hat tip to KG's Coffee Shop) and the responses by people who don't get the joke is also hilarious and good for a laugh any time of the day.
There's also a sad laughter, though, when you get a look into total emptiness. Democrats sadly offer too many opportunities
A California Democrat and member of the Progressive Caucus (does anyone wonder why 'liberal' and progressive' have become synonymous with degradation?), Tom Lantos, has introduced a bill in the House to mandate that any federal disaster planning must be modified to include rescue plans for household pets. The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS Act, H.R.3858) would add another level of bureaucracy to a federal program that has shown to be remarkably responsive. What? FEMA hasn't been a beacon of competency? Well, this act will sure fix that...
Here is the bill text and here is a list of cosponsors. There are actually forty. These people come at things with the right intentions. They want to help. Their goal is obviously to make sure little kiddies don't lose their little doggies just because a storm threatens human lives. But these legislators have no understanding of the intention of policy and the implementation of regulations. They don't deserve to serve in any position of authority. This is a big part of what is wrong with America.
