I rarely visit the Huffington Post, but found myself there today through a variety of links. Anyway, while there I found an article by Huffington's founder, Arianna Huffington. She was writing about the dismal display put on by 18-day old governor of Virginia Tim Kaine. While I couldn't agree with her more (with Kaine's droning and occasional bizarre insertion of the phrase "there's a better way" reminding me of Al Gore-bot) she makes a point which gives subtle insight into the mind of (at least these particular) liberals:
While Kaine was droning on, I closed my eyes and imagined Jack Murtha giving the response, someone with the authority to do much more than second guess -- to offer an alternative strategy on Iraq and the war on terror.
Obviously Jack Murtha's "authority" stretches from the one and only speech and stance he has taken on one issue in the history of his service in public office. Ms. Huffington's post begs the question - is immediate withdrawal from Iraq an "alternate strategy?"
It seems to me that Democrats have deluded themselves into thinking that they have a (John Kerry-esque) "plan" when really they have nothing whatsoever to offer. Calling Jack Murtha's Iraq cut-and-run idea an "alternate strategy" leads me to believe that people like Ms. Huffington are completely out of touch with what is happening in Iraq and America. They think that a no-name Democrat has "authority" and when he tells the American people that the way to win a war is to leave she takes it as cannon.
That's just nuts.
