Amen to bloggers! I've heard an absolutely great story about the new media - blogs. It seems that Paul Mirengoff from Powerline had a chance to act like a reporter and not an excellent blogger and lawyer. He has been covering the NSA servalence hearings in D.C. and got a chance to question both Senators Kennedy and Durbin. After Kennedy gave up talking with someone that actually asks tough questions, Durbin stepped up to the plate, only to be made out as a fool. When proved wrong by Mirengoff, he attemped to turn the attention back and asked who Paul worked for. In Paul's words:
I attempted to follow-up by noting that if the administration is right about the interplay of FISA and AUMF, there is no serious constitutional question because the president is acting with the permission of Congress. Durbin made it clear, however, that questioning was over. His parting shot was that he would try to check out what I write for "Pajama Line." My parting shot, that Dan Rather knew something about the outfit, drew laughter.
Yes, yes it did. It may just be that bloggers are turning the tide of traditional media. The days when Democrats get softballs and Republicans knuckle sandwiches may be coming to a close.
