The Times has an article about the anchor America loves to hate, Dan Rather. It seems that Dan has sunk into a pit of despair since he was asked to leave CBS after trying to influence a Presidential election with false documents. CBS hasn't really given him any stories to do on 60 Minutes, and Dan will probably be leaving CBS soon.
The 74-year-old man with the Mets cap pulled far down on his forehead slid into a booth at a diner on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and ordered a glass of milk without so much as turning a head — so quietly, in fact, that it was hard to believe it was Dan Rather.
*Sob* Where's Lucy Ramirez, Dan? If she's really unimpeachable maybe you'd still have a job.
Among the places he had sought solace, he said on a recent afternoon, was in "Good Night, and Good Luck," George Clooney's homage to Edward R. Murrow and the CBS News of old, a film that Mr. Rather said he had seen five times in theaters, most recently alone.
The Times ignores the irony in Dan watching a movie about how a belligerent news anchor reports and unpopular story and changes the world, whether it's true or not.
Bye, Dan. One day you'll figure it out...
