As I watched a silly New Year's Eve TV show one particular announcer, wasting time before the ball dropped, claimed that the outgoing year of 2006 will be remembered as the "year of the controversy" due to "Mark Foley and Jack Abramoff." Considering only one of these individuals have led to any indictments, and with a total of 3 indictments (and only one for corruption) over this entire previous Republican congress I differ with this talking head's account of 2006.
However, if you are looking for some corrupt politicians, look no further than the incoming Democratic congress. With individuals already convicted and impeached for corruption sitting as heads of committees, don't count on the media using the term "corruption" to ever describe a Democrat.
