A few months ago the AP used a source named "Jamil Hussein" to describe the brutal murder of six Iraqis. This story of Iraqis being burned alive could not be corroborated by a single other source. A quick search of the AP's former stories about Iraq began to turn up this "Jamil Hussein" as the lone source for a number of murder stories concerning Iraqi citizens.
It's now official, from the former head of CNN's news bureau: "Jamil Hussein" does not exist.
Don't count on the AP's quick response.
